4 Reviews of the Croyde 6 Vestibule
By: RichJean+Ellie Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2015 Rating:
I just want to start by saying what fantastic service I have had from both Kampa and The Family Tent Shop. We bought a new Series 3 Kampa Croyde 6 recently which had a couple of faults. They were easily fixable and Kampa and the shop agreed to compensate by giving us complimentary Storm straps and Vestibule instead of exchanging the tent.
The vestibule is a welcome addition to the tent, it encloses the front porch and creates a large indoor space separate to the main tent. Large windows are in the front wall of the vestibule continuing the light airy feel of the main tent.
Putting it up is very easy, even though there were no instructions. It just throws over the front porch roof pole, velcros to the legs and then clip the tension straps to pull it to the main tent. The porch is a very snug fit and doesn't feel likes it's going to slip or blow off, it feels very secure.
Several changes appear to have been made for the Series 3 version. Weather proof holes are now present so the storm straps can pass through the vestibule. This means the tent porch can be tensioned correctly avoiding a saggy look you used to get with the old one. Without the storm straps the normal guys still have to pegged inside though so you really need the storm straps to make it work properly. Only one tension strap is now present on each side at the top, the sides are kept snug to the tent by the Velcro fastenings to the poles and pegging points at the side.
Reading other reviews it would appear that older versions had curtains, this is not the case with the series 3. I don't see this as a problem really as we will be using it as a kitchen area and somewhere to store shoes and boots.
As before the whole front of the vestibule can be rolled back reverting to an open canopy if required. Add this to the new design of the Croyde 6 where the main tent front can also be rolled back and you get a fantastic open feeling to the tent.
The only small gripe I would make is that, as with all tents with a door in the sloping front, the zip for the door is a little difficult to reach when it's closed due to the sloping front.
Overall then the vestibule is a worthy addition to make an already versatile tent even more so.

Nice simple way of closing off the front of the Croyde 6 picked ours up in an end of season sale for £45. Easy to fit after youve downloaded the instructions, works very well and as others have said makes a very usable area in wet weather. Only needed to use ours once but didnt have any trouble with it blowing off although it didnt get that windy. One thing we did notice is that keeping the front canopy guy inside the vestibule lets the canopy roof sag a bit as the guy ends up at too steep an angle so used a tent pole clip with guy attached over the outside of the centre of the front pole so this is now guyed outside the vestibule at the correct angle also helps to keep the top of the vestibule in place. We don't use the supplied groundsheet in the canopy preferring to use a breathable one as this lets any rainwater through.

I got one of these recently, and I have to admit it really is good. It makes a good tent, great. The extra space inside is great for cooking in, and keeping the wellies and shoes dry. The lack of a larger ground sheet is not really an issue.
I have marked it down slightly, due to the way it is attached at the top of the tent, I think the ribbon will come off with a bit if wind, and the other review mentions that.
The big window lets in lot of light which is just as well, as the blue material does make it dark inside. The door is huge, although we only opened it up half way, it was still enough for the air and light to get in and for us to use as the front door.
One other point, make sure you down load the instructions for the vestibule, as there were none in the bag. It's not difficult, but I would like to have known that I fitted it right.

Well we love the vestibule. It's so easy to put up. There is a tie to go through the hole where the front guy rope is on the front of the tent. Once that is in place the vestibule just fits over the top and velcro's around the side poles. Once it's pegged out there are two side clips on each side that clips onto the second from the front pole and these can be tightened. There is a huge zip at the front that enables you to have the front area open as before and this also has a big window that has a curtain that can be rolled up. It doesn't come with an extra groundsheet so you are left with a strip of grass but this didn't bother us as we could leave the muddy boots here with out the groundsheet getting dirty. We did have some rain and there were no leaks although it became pretty windy and we ended up taking the vestibule down as it was being blown off the top. Perfect though on calmer days and really adds to the space in the Croyde 6! Giving it an 8 out of 10 only because of the wind issue, otherwise it would have been 10!
